Styling A Rooftop Terrace In Costa del Sol

There are more than 320 sunny days in Costa del Sol. That means the sun doesn’t give any mercy to the materials. This terrace was styled a couple of years ago and now it needed some refreshing.

The hard work was already done when I showed up - that means painting and assembling - thanks to Mirai Kodit. My part was to bring a bit of cosiness and make the place alive again.

The neutral tones were changed to deep ocean blue, leafy forest green and foamy white. All perfect colours for a seaside terrace. Matching cushions and blankets together with rugs soften the look and feel of the space. It can be really hot up there during the summer days, so a bit of shade is welcomed. Fortunately the existing awnings were still usable. As it is a pretty windy place, I didn’t bring any umbrella up there, but with a strong and heavy base, that would also be a great choice.

The strong Andalusian sun makes it difficult to grow any other plants than different versions of cactus & succulent. I loved the idea to have a mural on the back wall. You can see it straight away when you enter the terrace. It’s a real eye-catcher. It’s fun and stylish - thanks to the talented artist Sannamari Prittinen.

Now the terrace is ready for the whole family to enjoy and have bbq nights together with friends.
